Early childhood education and care (ECEC) is part of Finnish education system and an important stage on the child’s path of growing and learning. ECEC lays a foundation for lifelong learning. The Finnish ECEC is based on an integrated approach to care, education and teaching, the so-called “educare” model, with particular emphasis on pedagogy.
Children are equipped with 21st century competences such as focus, creativity, problem solving, self-expression, self-care, social-emotional, multi-literacy, collaboration, grit and resilience.
According to world Economic Forum's 2021 Global Competitiveness report, Finland has the best developed education system in the world.
